GWS Fury defensive midcourter Chelsea Mann is returning to the Swifts setup as a Training Partner for the 2023 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Showcasing her talent in the Australian Netball Championships for the QBE Swifts Academy side, Mann is excited to be back with the squad and is grateful for the opportunity.
“I am stoked to be back in the Swifts setup for 2023 and love learning from the senior players,” she said.
“Like my fellow training partners such as Audrey Little and Lili Gorman-Brown, I grew up supporting the Swifts and getting the chance to train with them daily is something that makes me very proud.
“The QBE Swifts Academy and everyone associated with that program, and GWS Fury in the Premier League, have really helped me to get to this point and I would also like to thank them.”
Mann says it’s a dream come true to be back and is ready for the road ahead.
“Like so many other young netballers in NSW it is my dream to play for the Swifts and the Diamonds so I just want to make the most of this learning opportunity and put my best foot forward for what lies ahead.”
Swifts head coach Briony Akle said the Manly Warringah native was one of the best midcourt talents in the country.
“Chelsea has so much potential and I love her toughness out on court, especially at wing defence,” she said.
“She has been a really great performer in our Academy and her elevation has been greatly aided by quality competition at the Australian Netball Championships and in the Netball NSW Premier League.
“Alongside Audrey and Lili, we have some really exciting midcourt talent to underpin our senior team and you need quality training partners to ensure you have the intensity needed to be contenders at this level.
“Chelsea looks at home on court with our senior players and that is a testament to her talent for such a young player.”
Mann is the latest Training Partner to be announced for next season. The Swifts have already announced the signatures of Little, Gorman-Brown and Clare Iongi.
More announcements will be made in due course.
