Awards
Each year the NSW Swifts season culminates in the NSW Swifts Gala Dinner, held at the conclusion of the Suncorp Super Netball season, where the team members and fans celebrate the season that was. Since the inaugural NSW Swifts season in 2008, three player awards have been presented at each gala dinner; QBE Most Valued Player, Members’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player. In 2013, two additional awards were introduced, NSW Swifts Coaches’ Award and Club Person of the Year.
The award winners and voting systems are listed below:
Since 2008 this award has been named after Principal Partner QBE Insurance. The QBE Most Valued Player is the club’s highest accolade and is currently awarded to the player who has received the most MVP votes from a specialist Suncorp Super Netball panel during the regular season.
Since the Swifts were formed in 1997, Liz Ellis leads the way with a whopping nine MVP awards, followed by Cath Cox with four and Sam Wallace with three.
