The NSW Swifts are delighted to announce NSW 19U State Team captain Audrey Little as the Club’s first Training Partner signing for the 2023 Suncorp Super Netball season.
A Manly Warringah junior who led NSW 19U to a National Netball Championships title in Tasmania earlier this year, 2023 will be Little’s second year in the wider senior Swifts environment.
The 19-year-old has been a standout performer in the QBE Swifts Academy program and the Netball NSW Premier League where she plays for the Manly Warringah Sapphires.
Swifts head coach Briony Akle said Little was one of the most talented rising stars of Australian netball.
“We are delighted to have Audrey returning as a Training Partner in 2023,” she said.
“Audrey has had a stellar 2022 and really demonstrated her talent at the National Netball Championships for NSW where she took out the Grand Final MVP award.
“She has embraced the opportunity to train and play alongside the likes of Paige Hadley and Maddy Proud and she looks to learn at every opportunity.
“I also think her performances at the Australian Netball Championships for the QBE Swifts Academy demonstrated how far she’s come. She went toe-to-toe with some seasoned Super Netball players and for her age that’s a brilliant achievement.”
Little said being part of the Swifts environment was a dream come true.
“I have followed the Swifts since I was a kid and I’m loving every second of my time with this group,” she said.
“Briony and the leadership team have instilled a real team-first attitude and getting to learn from, and play alongside, seasoned internationals is the best education you can get in the game.
“My dream is to eventually take the court as a Swift in a Super Netball game and getting this opportunity gives me the best shot at doing that.
“I would also like to thank my coaches in the Premier League, State Team setup and in the QBE Swifts Academy who provided a brilliant pathway to get me to this point.”
The NSW Swifts will make further announcements regarding Training Partners for 2023 in due course.
