Australian 21U shooting star Grace Whyte has recommitted to the NSW Swifts as a Training Partner for the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The 19-year-old, who made her Swifts debut against the Melbourne Vixens last year before going on to become the Club’s rookie athlete, is one of the brightest attacking prospects in the game.
Hailing from Tumut in regional NSW, Whyte came through the Netball NSW Pathway with underage state teams before earning a spot in the QBE Swifts Academy.
In 2024 she became a Swifts Training Partner for the first time and was subsequently elevated to rookie athlete status.
“The last 12 months have been a whirlwind for me but I’ve loved every part of the journey to this point,” Whyte said.
“Getting to take the court for the Swifts in a Super Netball game was a dream come true and to get to do it on multiple occasions was amazing.
“I would not have been able to achieve this without the support of all my coaches and teammates at the Swifts, the Academy and Netball NSW and I cannot wait to be part of the senior Swifts setup again.
“I’ve had a taste of what it’s like at the top and that will drive me to strive for more. I would also really like to thank my family, especially my Mum, for their support.
“Like Sophie Fawns and Jess Conlan, I am proud to be a regional NSW athlete in the Swifts setup and I’m looking forward to what 2025 brings.”
Swifts Head Coach Briony Akle said she was excited about what Whyte would continue to provide the team environment.
“What I love about Grace on court is her fearless approach and how she backs herself,” Akle said.
“When she ran out against the Vixens last year she was a ball of energy and I think they found it quite hard to defend against her - that’s the type of player you want to develop.
“She is still so young but has seen first hand what its like against the best players in the world and that will stand to her as she develops her game.
“As I said before, it is wonderful to have Training Partners in your squad who’ve tasted Super Netball action because those experiences stick with you, and educate you.
“I am delighted to have Grace in our team again in 2025.”
Whyte joins Jess Conlan and Freddie Schneideman in recommitting as Swifts Training Partner.
