Ex-Adelaide Thunderbirds and Northern Mystics midcourter Emily Burgess will join the NSW Swifts' senior playing setup for 2021 as a Training Partner (TP).
The fourth TP to be announced for next year's Suncorp Super Netball competition, the 24-year-old joins Teigan O'Shannassy, Leilani Rohweder and Kelly Singleton, who were revealed earlier this week.
A native of Bordertown in South Australia, Burgess earned her first senior contract with the Thunderbirds at the advent of Super Netball in 2017, and has also played at the top level across the Tasman with the Mystics in the ANZ Premiership.
A brilliant talent, Head Coach Briony Akle said she was impressed by Burgess's attitude when the latter expressed an interest in joining the Swifts setup.
"Emily has a fantastic work ethic and overcome some horrendous injuries down the years, but never gives up," Akle said.
"All is she looking for is a chance to prove herself at the top level in Australia again. She has gone across to New Zealand and played well, and knows what high performance sport is all about.
"It is also fantastic to have players like Emily, along with Teigan and Kelly, who have experienced what it's like to play in a Super Netball game.
"As we know at the Swifts it often takes more than your main roster of players to win Premierships and the role of TPs cannot be underestimated."
The Swifts will announce the team's final TP for 2021 in the near future.
