Former Giants defender Teigan O'Shannassy will join the NSW Swifts as a Training Partner for the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The 21-year-old made her elite netball debut in 2019 but missed the 2020 season due to illness.
A proud NSW junior, who was part of national and state underage setups, O'Shannassy was originally in the Swifts pathway in 2016 when she played for Briony Akle's Netball NSW Waratahs (now QBE Swifts Academy) in the Australian Netball League (ANL), before moving to the new franchise.
Akle said she was looking forward to working with the young defender again in 2021.
"Firstly I am delighted to have an athlete of Teigan's calibre joining the Swifts' setup for next year," Akle said.
"She has had a tough time with illness and injury of late but still has huge potential to achieve great things at the highest level.
"It was great working with her in 2016 when the Waratahs went all the way to the ANL Grand Final.
"She got a good opportunity to take up a Training Partner contract when the Giants came in back in 2017 but I'm delighted to have her back in the Swifts setup.
"With the likes of Sarah Klau, Maddy Turner and Lauren Moore to work with I think she will provide great support to our defensive unit.
"She has said she wants to be a Diamond one day, and now she has two Australian international defenders to learn from."
O'Shannassy is the third Training Partner to be announced by the club for 2021 with Kelly Singleton and Leilani Rohweder revealed earlier this week.
The Swifts will announce the remaining Training Partners for 2021 in the coming days.
