The NSW Swifts will see how their preparation for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season is faring this weekend when they travel to regional Victoria for the Ballarat Blitz.
The top four sides from last year’s SSN competition are taking part with the Melbourne Vixens, West Coast Fever and Adelaide Thunderbirds also making the trip.
Briony Akle’s team will do battle with the Thunderbirds at 3pm on Saturday before backing up and facing the Fever at 11am on Sunday morning.
All matches take place at Selkirk Stadium in an event that is backed by the City of Ballarat and the Victorian Government.
The matches are key for the Swifts who will also take on the Giants on home turf at Netball Central on Thursday 5 March before Round 1 of Super Netball on Saturday 14 March on the road in Adelaide.
Akle said she was excited to see the team it the court against quality opposition.
“We cannot wait to blow off some cobwebs and have some time together as a unit in an away setting,” she said.
“The Fever and Thunderbirds are really impressive outfits and we’re looking forward to seeing how we go up against them.
“These games aren’t really about the results, they are more of an indicator of what is working well and what needs to be done.
“We’ve had quite a lot of players away on international duty over the course of the pre-season but we’ve had the last week together as a full unit and we are ready to test ourselves.”
