On the back of a sterling year in which she made her NSW Swifts debut and became a Youth World Champion, rising Australian defender Freddie Schneideman has signed on as Training Partner for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The Randwick native came through the Netball NSW Pathway and the QBE Swifts Academy and was named MVP at the 2024 19U National Netball Championships which NSW won.
In 2024 she earned her first Training Partner contract and debuted for the Swifts in last year’s sold out Round 13 clash against the Sunshine Coast Lightning at Ken Rosewall Arena, before going on to play in the Club’s Finals Series campaign.
It was the start of a very busy number of months for the specialist goal defence who travelled to Gibraltar in September for the Netball World Youth Cup where she helped Australia win Gold for the first time in over a decade.
The 20-year-old said she was very excited to get back to work in the Swifts environment.
“To run on the court in a Swifts dress and to get my own Club number was the fulfilment of a dream and a moment that I will never forget,” she said.
“But now that I’ve had a taste, I am hungry for more and the best place for me to continue developing is at the Swifts where I have learned so much.
“Hitting the courts every day and learning from the likes of Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner, and defending players like Grace Nweke and Helen Housby, is a huge education and I love to learn.
“As well getting to experience playing at sold out arenas in Sydney and Perth, I also had an amazing trip to Europe to win a world title. That couldn’t have happened without being in a great group.
“My time at the Swifts has helped me bring my game to the next level and that’s why I am so excited to return as a Training Partner.”
Swifts head coach Briony Akle said she was delighted to have Schneideman back for next season.
“This year was a fantastic one for Freddie and I was very proud of how she held her own when taking the court in a Super Netball game,” she said.
“But what excites me most about her is that she has a very high ceiling and we have only seen the start of what she can do.
“She’s a fierce competitor with a great netball brain, and we’re excited to help her continue developing in the Swifts environment.”
