The QBE Swifts Academy underpins the NSW Swifts netball program.
Launched with the backing of Netball NSW and the Swifts’ principal partner, QBE Insurance, the Academy looks to strengthen the foundations of Australian netball's most decorated elite Club by providing further pathway opportunities to aspiring players from across NSW and beyond.
It provides a daily training environment for athletes who have the potential to play for the Swifts in the future.
Supporting the 10 rostered athletes in the senior Swifts squad which contests Suncorp Super Netball, Academy players consists of the best talent in the Netball NSW pathway.
Expressions of Interest for our 2026 Program can be submitted from 9am on Monday 1 September. Please consider the below information before submitting an EOI. In addition, Netball NSW's Selection Policy for 2026 can be viewed HERE.
QBE Swifts Academy seek Expression of Interest from athletes who:
- Are strong performers in the Netball NSW Premier League competition, State Teams, Emerging teams or similar standard programs
- Display highly developed technical skills
- Show superior ability to read the game and adapt to opponents and teammates play
- Excel in physical testing
- Display a growth mindset, mental toughness and are self-motivated
- Demonstrate the potential to progress on the NSW performance pathway
- Desire to be a Swift or Siren
To be eligible for selection athletes must:
- Be a current financial member of Netball NSW
- Aged between 18yrs (born 2009) and 25 (born 2002)
- Reside in NSW
- Netball NSW may grant an exemption to an ineligible player if that player has the potential to be considered a future SN player
Nomination Information
- All athletes wishing to be considered for selection into the QBE Swifts must submit an expression of interest to Netball NSW.
- This includes athletes who are currently on scholarship QBE Swifts Academy or GIANTS Netball Academy.
- Expression of Interest nominations will open on September 4, 2026 and will close on September 18, 2026.
Selection Information
- There will be no selection trials for the QBE Swifts Academy for the 2027 programs.
- The QBE Swifts Academy will independently determine the assessment criteria for selection into their Academy.
- The QBE Swifts Academy panels may review athlete performance in match play and video footage and may also consider past performance.
- From September 4, 2026 to October 4, 2026, the QBE Swifts Academy selection panels can offer a 1 year scholarship of any athlete that has submitted an expression of interest.
- The QBE Swifts Academy are not obliged to provide feedback to athletes.
