Superstar Trinidad & Tobago shooter Sam Wallace has been named the NSW Swifts' QBE Most Valued Player for the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season.
It is the third time the attacker has won the Award since she joined the Swifts in 2017 and equals club centurion Cath Cox's record of three MVP wins.
Wallace previously took out the Award in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Presented in association with Principal Partner QBE Insurance, the MVP is the club’s highest accolade and awarded to the player who has received the most votes from a specialist Super Netball panel during the regular season.
It has been awarded since 2008, when the club rebranded from the Sydney Swifts to NSW Swifts.
Wallace was in imperious form at the weekend, shooting at over 90 percent as the Swifts beat the Giants in Brisbane to claim their seventh Premiership, and second in three years.
NSW Swifts Executive General Manager Nikki Horton said Wallace's growth and consistency since she joined the club was remarkable.
"Sam came to us as a talented but raw attacker back in 2017, however she has blossomed into one of the finest, if not best, shooters in the world," Horton said.
"What is most impressive about Sam is her inner strength and drive to succeed, and the way she makes her job look easy, which it isn't.
"She has overcome the heartache of losing her Dad (in 2019) and Aunt (this season) to deliver for the team time and time again. Now she is a double Premiership champion, and she could win even more.
"Sam also plays the game beautifully with a skill and flair that is almost unrivalled. When people see Sam Wallace play netball they want to tune in more and more.
"On behalf of everyone at the Swifts and Netball NSW I would like to congratulate Sam on this hugely deserved recognition."
Other awards presented included a double for Sarah Klau, who was voted both the Members' Player of the Year and the Coaches Player of the Year, while Maddy Turner took out the Players' Player of the Year recognition.
Team Manager Dani Mace won the Club Person of the Year (High Performance) while Media & Communications Manager Shane de Barra won the equivalent award from the Swifts' wider admin staff.
