NSW Swifts Training Partner Brianna Martyn has been ruled out of action for the remainder of 2026 due to injury.
The midcourter has undergone surgery after suffering an ACL injury in training and will miss the QBE Swifts Academy’s Super Netball Reserves campaign.
Formerly part of the Sunshine Coast Lightning setup, Martyn played in their Super Netball Reserves side last year and is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in the game.
A proud Kullilli woman, in 2024 the Queensland native was also named in the inaugural First Nations Black Swans national side.
She joined the Swifts setup last month alongside Eliza Burton as replacements for the injured Jess Conlan and Freddie Schneideman.
Swifts head coach Briony Akle said the group was very disappointed to lose Martyn after just four sessions but backed her to bounce back.
“Brianna is a special talent and been a wonderful fit since she made the move south, so we are devasted for her.
“However, she has a wonderful team around her and is already on the road to recovery.
“She’s been quick to make a life for herself in Sydney in the short time she’s been here and we will support her in every way we can – not just in her recovery, but in how she continues to settle into a new environment.
“Injuries are a very unfortunate part of sport at this level, but she will have a great support network around her, especially with Jess and Freddie.
“All three are fantastic talents and I know they’ll be back stronger than ever.”
