The NSW Swifts would like to thank Allie Smith for her huge contribution to the Club over the past four seasons.
The Club can confirm that the defensive midcourter has not been offered a contract for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
After winning a Premiership with the Melbourne Vixens in 2020, Smith made the move to the Swifts in 2022 and last year brought up her 50-game milestone across her time at two of Australian netball’s legacy Clubs.
Over the course of her Swifts career she played a big role in leading the Club to two Finals campaigns, including the 2023 Grand Final.
Head coach Briony Akle thanked Smith for her efforts in Red.
“Allie is immensely popular in our group, and is one of the best team people you can ask for,” Akle said.
“Despite missing the Grand Final in 2023 through injury, she played a big part in getting us there and she backed that up last year, and again in 2025 in some key victories that took us back to Finals.
“These calls are always marginal and Allie is obviously very disappointed, but she was the ultimate professional when we shared the news.
“She will always be Swift No.100, which is a very special number to hold, and forever be part of our Family.”
Smith said it was an honour to be a Swift and thanked everyone at the Club.
“I am obviously disappointed that I will not be part of the team next year, but I know this is just part of the ride when it comes to professional sport and sometimes it doesn’t always go your way.
“I am very grateful for the experiences that I have had with the Swifts over the past four years and I will treasure those moments going forward.
“The Swifts are a special Club and it has been an honour to wear the dress and play some huge games in the Red.
“I have shared amazing times with a brilliant bunch of teammates and I would like to thank them and everyone at the Club for making my time here so special.
“For now, I am excited for what the future holds for me and the new chapter I’m stepping into”
