The NSW Swifts were delighted to host over 300 up-and-coming netballers during the October School Holidays at the Club’s sold-out Train Like A Swift Clinics.
The Clinics gave junior and representative underage players an insight into what it takes to become a netballer at the elite level.
In 2024 the Swifts introduced the Club’s first two-day Representative Clinic which took place from Monday 30 September to Tuesday 1 October, and focused on players who are already standing out at their local Associations.
At the Clinic 120 participants were empowered to explore new and exciting approaches to training and were equipped with learnings in nutrition, wellbeing, strength & conditioning and netball skills from leading accredited coaches.
The Junior Train Like A Swift Clinic, which welcomed 180 participants (aged from 7-12), took place on Friday 11 October and again proved itself to be one of the most popular school holiday offerings in the state.
Selling out within days of going on sale, participants used the Clinic as the perfect way to sharpen their skills, make new friends and advance their love of the sport. They were also lucky enough to have many Swifts players on board for the day including Club Co-Captain Maddy Proud and Centurion defender Maddy Turner.
Jeremy Butler, Executive General Manager of the Swifts, said delivering the Clinics was a key part of the Club’s community engagement.
“It has been our pleasure to welcome so many young netballers through the doors of Netball Central over the past few weeks and the numbers have been brilliant,” he said.
“Not only is this a real demonstration of the Swifts’ popularity in the community, it also shows the strength of grassroots netball.
“It’s fantastic to see so many smiling faces at Netball Central, and I can tell from the screams of excitement around the courts that they are all having fun.
“Due to their popularity, we have steadily been increasing the number of Clinics we have on offer and plan to have our biggest number yet in 2025.”
