The Swifts would like to congratulate members of the Club’s high-performance setup who’ve been selected for the 2025 Netball NSW State Team Program.
QBE Swifts Academy athletes Nicola Barge (Sutherland Shire, pictured above), Sophia Martinussen (Tuggeranong) and Nevaeh Matenga (Liverpool City) have earned selection for the NSW 19U Team which will represent the State at the 2025 National Netball Championships.
In further great news, Swifts Specialist Coach Jen Wright has been named as Head Coach of the 19U Team, while former Swifts Premiership champion Nardia Trevor will coach the NSW 17U side.
The annual Championships provide an opportunity for developing athletes, coaches, umpires and officials from each State and Territory to compete across six days with 17U and 19U champions crowned on the final day.
The 40-year-old event has produced some of the best talent in Australian netball, including an array of past and present Swifts champions and Australian Diamonds.
The 2025 competing squads will hail from the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.
The venue for the 2025 Championships will be announced shortly.
Swifts Executive General Manager Jeremy Butler congratulated all selected:
“To earn selection to represent NSW at Nationals is a very proud moment for any netballer or coach and it is fantastic to see so many from our Swifts environment making the grade again," he said.
“The Netball NSW State Team program is one of the most important in the netball ecosystem and I would like to wish everyone involved in it the best of luck as they prepare for Nationals.
“The State Teams and QBE Swifts Academy have a proven track record of producing athletes who are able to hit the ground running in Suncorp Super Netball and we cannot wait to see how they perform in 2025.”
