Ugandan international goal shooter Mary Cholhok has signed with the NSW Swifts for the 2027 Super Netball season.
The 29-year-old makes the move to Sydney from the Queensland Firebirds, who she joined in 2025, following six seasons in the UK’s Netball Super League.
Cholhok has made 28 Suncorp Super Netball appearances and scored 996 goals, with her height, reach and signature lay-ups making her a constant challenge for opposition defence.
A two-time Commonwealth Games representative for Uganda, Cholhok said she was excited to make the move to the Swifts.
“I feel ready for this next chapter of my career and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead with the Swifts.
“The Swifts have such an incredible history and such a passionate supporter base, and I’m really looking forward to becoming part of that and getting to know everyone.
“I’m excited to bring the experience I’ve gained over the past two seasons, but I also know there is still so much for me to learn and achieve.
“I’m really looking forward to being in a new environment, challenging myself and continuing to grow as a player.
NSW Swifts Head Coach Dylan Nexhip said Cholhok’s experience, physical presence and ability to form combinations would add another dimension to the team’s attack.
“Mary is a player who brings something really unique to our group,” Nexhip said.
“What really appealed to us about Mary was the way she puts the team first. She has a genuine kindness about her, a real appreciation for the game and a gratitude for the opportunity to keep challenging herself, and those qualities really stood out to us.
“We’ve seen Mary shine for Uganda on the international stage, and we’re really excited to see how we can bring that same impact into our environment at the Swifts.
“The combinations she can build with Grace Whyte and Helen Housby, alongside the experience and precision of Paige Hadley and Tayla Fraser, under the creative direction of Jo Harten, gives us an exciting and formidable attack end.
“We know what Mary can bring on court, but we’re also really excited to welcome the person she is into our environment. She has made a real impact in Queensland through the way she connects with people, and we’re looking forward to seeing her bring that warmth, energy and experience to the Swifts.
“We’re incredibly excited to have an international player of Mary’s calibre joining our Club, and we can’t wait to see her in red in 2027.”
The Swifts have now signed eight of their 10-strong roster with Cholhok joining Paige Hadley, Helen Housby, Tayla Fraser, Grace Whyte, Sarah Klau, Rudi Ellis and Lucy Voyvodic for 2027.
The Club will announce the final contracted players for 2027 in the coming days.
