After a challenging 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the NSW Swifts are delighted to announce the club has reached 3,000 Members in the fastest time in its 24-year history.
Despite winning the 2019 Premiership, the Swifts haven't played a home game since the Preliminary Final victory over the Melbourne Vixens in September last year.
The Swifts had to play their entire 2020 Suncorp Super Netball title defence in the COVID-enforced netball hub in Queensland but in 2021 they are set to return home to a brand new 10,000-seater venue at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney Olympic Park.
Swifts Executive General Manager Nikki Horton said it was a wonderful sign ahead of 2021.
"The Swifts have a real connection with their Members and I know the players really missed that in Queensland this year," she said.
"Maddy Proud said the players were very disappointed to miss the chance to run out as Premiers on their home court, but they are determined to bring the title back to NSW to make amends for that.
"I would like thank all of our returning Members for their loyalty and commitment to the club and welcome new Members to the greatest female-team sport competition on earth.
"Netball has always been, and still is, the standard bearer for women in sport across Australia and is a world-class product live. We are very excited to see more people join up as we prepare to come home for Super Netball 2021."
