The NSW Swifts have officially launched their season with the club’s 2025 netball dress presentation held at Principal Partner QBE Insurance's Sydney office.
The event comes just 17 days before the Swift’s Opening Round match against West Coast Fever in front of an expected bumper crowd in Perth.
It was an historic night for the club as four players were recognised as Swifts Centurions and Swifts debutants, Verity Simmons, Sharni Lambden and Grace Nweke, were presented with their first red dress.
David Hirsch, General Manager of Marketing and Customer Insights at QBE spoke about the iconic Swifts dress as a powerful symbol that empowers and inspires generations of young Australians, before presenting it to the players.
“This dress is more than just a uniform. It carries with it a rich legacy, worn by many outstanding athletes who have paved the way for those who stand here today. The dress represents grit, determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship — qualities that define the Swifts, both on and off the court,” Hirsch said.
“For the current players, receiving and wearing this dress is a true privilege. It’s a reminder of the responsibility they carry, the legacy they continue, and the countless athletes who have worn it before them with pride,” Hirsch continued.
“And for the many women and girls who play netball — this dress is a source of inspiration, a beacon of what is possible with hard work, passion, and dedication.”
NSW Swifts Executive General Manager Jeremy Butler said there is plenty to look forward to in the season ahead.
"I would like to thank our Principal Partner QBE for hosting our Season Launch event at their offices," Butler said.
"It was an excellent opportunity for our athletes to catch up with our partners and discuss the exciting season ahead.
"This promises to be strong year for the Swifts under the leadership of Briony Akle, and we appreciate the amazing support we enjoy from our partners.
"We are now looking forward to spending time with our Members this weekend on Members Day as we build up to the 2025 Season and the big opening day game against the West Coast Fever."
