New NSW Swifts signing Matilda Garrett has been named alongside Swifts defender Sarah Klau in the Australian Diamonds squad for the 2026 Constellation Cup, presented by Suncorp.
The pair are among a 14-athlete squad selected for the 16th edition of the Trans-Tasman rivalry, which will see Australia take on the New Zealand Silver Ferns across four Tests in October.
For Garrett, the selection marks another milestone in an exciting start to her Swifts journey, with the defender set to join the club ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
For Klau, the selection provides another opportunity to represent the Diamonds on the international stage, adding to her extensive experience in the green and gold.
The series will begin in New Zealand, with the Diamonds facing the Silver Ferns in Auckland before travelling to Christchurch. Australia will then return home to host the final two Tests, with Match 3 to be played at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena on Sunday 25 October before the series concludes in Melbourne. Built around the core group that claimed bronze at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games earlier this year, the squad balances established connections with opportunities to challenge and grow.
Amy Parmenter and Donnell Wallam add proven international experience to the group that competed in Glasgow, while defender Jessie Grenvold could make her Diamonds debut. Grenvold earned her maiden Diamonds selection back in May, named in the 2026 – 27 squad off the back of a breakout Super Netball season with the Melbourne Mavericks.
Wallam joins a dynamic shooting end, with Kiera Austin, Sophie Garbin, Cara Koenen and Sophie Dwyer offering a variety of combinations and styles. The versatile Georgie Horjus brings another dimension to the attack line, able to swing between goals and midcourt.
Led by captain Liz Watson and vice-captain Kate Moloney, the Diamonds’ world-class midcourt is bolstered by the strength and pace of Mavericks teammates Jamie-Lee Price and Amy Parmenter.
In defence Grenvold will be guided by experienced campaigners including Courtney Bruce, who will become the Diamonds’ seventh centurion when she next takes the court in the green and gold, alongside new NSW Swifts teammates Matilda Garrett and Sarah Klau. Jo Weston was unavailable for selection for this series.
The Diamonds will come together at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra before crossing the Tasman for the opening two Tests, with a team of 12 to be named ahead of each match.
Australian Diamonds head coach Stacey Marinkovich said the squad struck a balance between rewarding proven performers and giving the group room to grow.
“This squad reflects the depth we have across Australian netball,” Marinkovich said.
“We’ve got a core of established talent who know what it takes to win at this level, and we’ve also built in the opportunity to test some newer combinations. It’s about making sure we keep evolving as a team while retaining the culture and standards this group has set together.”
Marinkovich also spoke of her excitement to bring the series home.
“There’s nothing quite like playing the Silver Ferns on home soil,” she said.
“This is one of the fiercest rivalries in world sport, and the opportunity to play in front of huge home crowds in Sydney and Melbourne is something this group is really looking forward to.”
