New Zealand international Elle Temu has been confirmed as a NSW Swifts Training Partner for the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The Silver Ferns defender made her international debut against Jamaica in 2022 and has played for both the Pulse and Stars in the ANZ Premiership, specialising in the goal defence and goal keeper positions.
The 25-year-old made the move to Sydney last year to be with fiancé Isaiah Papali’i who plays for the Wests Tigers in the NRL, but is keen to continue her own elite sporting career.
That’s where the Swifts come in, and Temu couldn’t be more excited.
“Growing up and playing in New Zealand I have always admired the Australian netball league, so to be here in the Swifts environment is pretty exciting,” Temu said.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the setup for 2024.”
Temu backed herself to do a job for the Swifts, should she be needed later in the year.
“I’m really just echoing what the rest of the TPs have said here, but from what I’ve seen so far we are expected to fit in seamlessly should we get the nod.
“The setup is geared to ensure that the main rostered 10 are as supported as possible, and that everyone is pulling together. Everyone knows the calls and their roles inside out and I think we’re all ready to step-up.”
