On the back of winning the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball title, the NSW Swifts have been nominated in the Team of the Year category for the 2019 NSW Sports Awards.
The nomination is one of three for the Swifts with head coach Briony Akle nominated for Coach of the Year, and the club’s general manager, Nikki Horton, up for Administrator of the Year.
In further good news for the sport, Netball NSW has been nominated in the Organisation of the Year category, with Super Netball umpire Helen George in the running for Official of the Year.
Netball is also included in the Event of the Year category on the back of the hugely successful Hart Junior State Titles in Penrith and Baulkham Hills, while the NSW Marie Little Shield Team are up for Team of the Year with a Disability.
As well as crowning the winners, the ceremony will also see six of the state’s sports greats inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions, with the late Richie Benaud elevated to Legend status.
The Awards take place at The Star Sydney on Monday, 18 November.
