With the NSW Swifts’ Suncorp Super Netball Finals Series place secure for 2025, it’s time to look at the permutations as we head into the last round of regular season games.
So, here’s a quick overview.
WHO HAS QUALFIED FOR THE FINALS?
So far West Coast Fever (Minor Premiers), the Swifts (currently 2nd) and the Melbourne Vixens (currently 3rd) will play Finals. This weekend the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning face each other with the winner taking the final playoff spot.
SO, WHO WILL THE SWIFTS PLAY?
Despite some recent losses, the Swifts are still in the box seat for a top-two finish and securing two shots at reaching the Grand Final.
Should they beat the Firebirds in Brisbane on Sunday they are guaranteed second on the ladder and would then travel to Perth to face the Fever in the Major Semi Final.
Should they lose to the Firebirds the Melbourne Vixens would have to beat the Fever in Perth and then hope they can overtake the Swifts’ much better goal percentage to pip NSW to second. View the full SSN Ladder here.
WHAT DOES SECOND CHANCE MEAN?
If the Swifts secure a top-two finish they would travel to Perth to face the Fever in the Major Semi Final. The winner of that game secures automatic Grand Final qualification and gets a week off before the big dance.
The loser of the Major Semi Final then hosts the winner of the Minor Semi Final (3rd v 4th) in the Preliminary Final. Whoever wins the Prelim also advances to the Grand Final.
WHAT HAPPEENS FOR THE TEAMS FINISHING IN 3RD and 4TH?
The team that finishes in third will host the fourth-placed team in the Minor Semi Final. That is an elimination game with the loser knocked out of SSN 2025. The winner would then travel to face the loser of the Major Semi Final in the Prelim Final.
HOW DOES TICKETING WORK FOR THE FINALS?
The Finals Series is owned and operated by Netball Australia and not by the Super Netball Clubs. All ticketing details will be announced by Netball Australia after the final match-ups have been locked in for the Finals Series.
