Meanwhile, the air was buzzing with energy, thanks to the beats spun by DJ Suzuki. At one point, Swift’s debutant Verity Simmons took over the decks, while Sophie Fawns, Helen Housby and Sharni Lambden led the fans in the mosh pit.
Another highlight was the chance to meet the players and get autographs, a moment cherished by many. Long-time member Kellie McLeod shared her thoughts on the event: "It's been great. The girls are loving it. It's really engaging. It's great to see the players around," she said, clearly thrilled with the experience.
10-year-old Tahlia McLeod was equally excited, particularly about the interactive games. “A lot of the games were good. We did the connect goal with Maddie Turner and getting a lot of the players' autographs was really fun,” she said, clearly enjoying her time with the Swifts.
When asked about the players they were most excited to meet, Kellie mentioned: "Probably the new ones. We've been members for a few years now, so it's good to see the new faces. So especially Grace because I'm a Kiwi, so it's great to meet you for sure."
For fans like Kellie and Tahlia, being a member isn’t just about attending events—it’s about building a connection with the team. "Definitely. It’s in the calendar - ready to go," Kellie said when asked if they were looking forward to the first game of the season on April 12. Tahlia added, “Coming out to the games as a member, there's a lot of excitement and I love seeing the players try their best in scoring goals.”
The players themselves were equally excited to meet their fans. Co-Captain Maddy Turner reflected on the special connection between the team and their supporters: "It's been amazing to connect with everyone before the season starts. I feel like sometimes we don't get the opportunity to see our fans and have a bit of one-on-one chat with them as well."
Maddy was clearly touched by the huge turnout at the event: "A massive amount of people came through, it's unbelievable. I feel like everyone's just rearing for the season to go. I'm really looking forward to home game round two against the Mavs," she said with enthusiasm.
And how does it feel to see so many fans supporting the team?
"I feel like everyone's just been so positive—seeing the smiling faces. There are a lot of people in red, which is what we love to see," Maddy added.
