Netball NSW is pleased to announce that Tracey Scott has been appointed Executive General Manager of the NSW Swifts.
A seasoned sports administrator who has previously held senior roles at Cricket Australia and Football Australia, Scott, pictured above, takes over from out-going EGM Nikki Horton who has decided to explore new opportunities after four hugely successful years with the Swifts and a decade of service to Netball NSW.
Scott most recently worked in football and served as Deputy Commissioner of the A-Leagues, overseeing the delivery of professional men’s and women’s competitions and working closely with the clubs, broadcast partners and the players association.
She was selected as the professional game representative to join FIFA's inaugural Professional Women's Football Taskforce and also served as a director on the boards of both Hockey Victoria and Hockey Australia.
Before that Scott spent seven years with Cricket Australia working primarily as their Senior Legal Counsel, supporting all facets of the business but with a strong focus on broadcast, high performance, participation and player relations.
Scott said she was honoured to take over at Australian netball’s most successful professional club.
“The Swifts are one of the most respected clubs in Australian sport and standard bearers for women in team sport for over two and half decades, so taking this role is a huge honour,” she said.
“Firstly, I want to pay tribute to Nikki and her achievements over the past four years at the helm of the club.
“The Swifts have won two out of the last three Suncorp Super Netball premierships and rediscovered themselves as the legacy club of Australian netball. That doesn’t happen without a good leader empowering people to be their best selves.
“Now it is about building on those brilliant foundations. I am really looking forward to working closely with the players, coaching staff, club staff and the grassroots netball community to further drive success of both the club and wider game.”
Netball NSW CEO Tain Drinkwater welcomed Scott to the Swifts and also paid tribute to Horton:
“It is wonderful to have Tracey on board with the Swifts,” she said.
“Tracey was instrumental in enhancing the integrity framework and the standards of performance with the Football Leagues (Football Australia) and brings a wealth of experience as a sports administrator across governance, integrity, competitions and high performance.
“She joins the Swifts on the back of an unrivalled seventh Premiership success and record memberships in excess of 5,000. All of this was achieved despite the challenges of COVID-19 over the past two years. I would like to acknowledge the sterling efforts of Nikki Horton whose leadership was instrumental to those successes and wish her all the best for what comes next.”
