Netball Australia is thrilled to announce that the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final will be held at Melbourne’s iconic Rod Laver Arena in August. The renowned venue, with a capacity of more than 14,000 spectators, sets the stage for what could be the largest crowd ever at a Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final.
Momentum for netball has grown significantly since the Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final was last held in Melbourne at John Cain Arena drawing a sold-out crowd of 9,622 and delivering an important economic boost of $6.93 million to the local area.
The 2024 Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final also laid witness to a sell-out crowd at Adelaide Entertainment Centre when the Adelaide Thunderbirds secured a back-to-back title in front of 9,649 fans. The 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season was the most attended season of Australian women’s sport, with a final total attendance of 366,222. It marked the biggest season in the league’s history, with 34,381 fans flocking to the Finals Series after a home and away attendance of 331,841
Suncorp Super Netball also attracted the highest average crowd in Australian women’s sport, with an average of 6,097 fans attending each match – up from 5,069 in 2023.

“The Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final has been a sell-out for the past three seasons, and we expect these to be the hottest tickets in town this year.”
The Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final at Rod Laver Arena joins a blockbuster pipeline of major events across the state for 2025, including the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the British and Irish Lions Tour, the Rip Curl Pro, LEGO Star Wars Exhibition, and Beetlejuice the Musical.
The huge upcoming calendar builds on current drawcards such as the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the NGV and the recent record-breaking Australian Open, the Boxing Day Test, and the Melbourne Cup Carnival – all contributing to Victoria’s record $39.7 billion visitor economy.
“This is an event that draws fans and families from across the state and around Australia – bringing netball fans to our hotels, restaurants and attractions and backing local businesses and jobs, ” Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said.
“We’re bringing elite netball to all corners of the state so fans and families experience the highest level of competition close to where they live – with those benefits flowing into local communities.”
As part of the Victorian Government’s partnership with Netball Australia through Visit Victoria, recent netball events have been delivered across the state including the 2024 Origin Australian Diamonds International Test Series against England and New Zealand.
