The NSW Swifts will face the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Round 11 of Suncorp Super Netball next Sunday, not the Sunshine Coast Lightning as originally scheduled.
The top-two sides were to face-off, however, Netball Australia has announced a rejigged fixture with the aim of ensuring all eight clubs can play as many home games as possible.
The league is working through a venue for the match, which takes place at 3.30pm (AET) and further details will be communicated in the coming days.
The Swifts are currently based in Melbourne due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Greater Sydney. They have already played one home fixture in the Victorian capital - against West Coast Fever - and Sunday's Adelaide game will be the second.
NSW Swifts Executive General Manager Nikki Horton said the club still hoped to fulfill home fixtures later in the year.
"We understand why the league is making these changes and our team is happy to work collectively to ensure the best outcomes for everyone," she said.
"It is certainly disappointing for our players, staff, members, partners and fans to see home games played at neutral venues but whist case numbers in Sydney continue to impact restrictions we are grateful we can play on.
"We still have a home Derby against the Giants and a home game against the Lightning among our matches post Round 11 and we remain hopeful they can be played at Ken Rosewall Area.
"This is an ever-changing situation but we will ultimately be guided by the health advice that's provided week by week."
Netball Australia CEO Kelly Ryan said the league was pleased to lock in another blockbuster round of netball.
“We are continuing to work with state governments and health authorities to protect the season and ensure that all eight clubs play as many home games as possible,” Ryan said.
“We will continue to monitor the health advice and update the fixture on a weekly basis. We are determined to make the season as fair as possible for the teams and give our fans every opportunity to watch live netball.”
In the Round's other games the Lightning will host the Giants in Queensland on Saturday (3pm AET). The Victorian Government announced this week that Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast had been downgraded from red to orange zones.
On Saturday night the Firebirds will play the West Coast Fever at Perth's RAC Arena (9pm AET) while Melbourne Vixens will host the Collingwood Magpies at John Cain Arena at 1pm (AET) on Sunday.
Note for Members
The NSW Swifts would like to thank 2021 members for their patience.
It is the club's plan to send out a list of options to members whose benefits have been impacted by the team's relocations to Queensland and Victoria.
Please note we must wait to see how long the team will be away, and how this impacts each Membership, before we're in a position to do this.
Rest assured this is at the forefront of our minds at this time. If you have any additional queries please email: membership@nswswifts.com.au
Note for Ticketholders
