QBE Swifts Academy rookie Freddie Schneideman is ready to test herself at the highest level after earning a NSW Swifts Training Partner spot for the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The Randwick defender, who joined the QBE Swifts Academy in 2022 after impressing the NSW State Teams and the Netball NSW Premier League, is one of the most exciting new defensive talents in the Australian game.
A goal keeper and goal defence by trade, the 18-year-old represented the QBE Swifts Academy – the feeder program to the NSW Swifts – at the 2023 Australian Netball Championships in Queensland, returning with a Silver Medal.
She also enjoyed a fine campaign with the ERNA Hawks in the Netball NSW Premier League, playing a Grand Final with the Opens team at Ken Rosewall Arena in 2023.
“I have loved by time in the Academy which I feel has really helped prepare me for what’s expected when you train with the senior team,” Schneideman said.
“I am still pinching myself when I come into training and take the court with some genuine superstars of netball, and some of the best players in the world in their positions.
“It’s also amazing that we have some of the best Internationals who bring a different style of game and with it a real learning curve for me.
“I love marking Sam Wallace in training because she has her own style which poses different questions and I couldn’t ask for a better environment to learn in.
“The speed and intensity takes some getting used to and it’s sink or swim at times but this is where you want to be and I am proud to have the opportunity to prove myself.”
