With the nation stepping up its response to the ever-changing Covid-19 situation, the NSW Swifts would like to release the following information to Members and Fans, who are foremost in our minds at this time.
Suncorp Super Netball 2020
As you probably already know, there are Federal and State Government directives to ban large gatherings across the country to aid the protection of the most vulnerable and susceptible to Covid-19 in our community. This is a step which the NSW Swifts support wholeheartedly. Netball, at all levels, is based on community after all.
Suncorp Super Netball is considering different scenarios over the next week regarding the upcoming season and will keep fans across the decisions made.
Be assured that the Swifts and Netball NSW, along with the Super Netball League and Netball Australia, are working closely with all key stakeholders as well as government and health experts to monitor the situation and adapt plans where necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes.
The Swifts would like to especially thank Members for their continuing support, passion and understanding in these challenging times.
Like every other team in the competition, we want to play as much as you want to watch us.
2020 NSW Swifts Membership packs
In some good news, our 2020 Membership packs are due to be dispatched in the coming weeks and we have decided to press ahead with their distribution.
The Swifts are a family and we want our Members to feel very much part of the club, even if there is some uncertainly around when exactly the team will take to the court this year.
NSW Swifts playing group
The players, more than anyone, are hoping to get on court in front of the Swifts Family as soon as possible. While there has been some disruption to their training schedule, they remain hugely committed and highly professional in their daily approach.
Head coach Briony Akle and her staff are using this time to get the players even more prepared for their title defence, even if that comes a little later in the year.
Captain Maddy Proud and Lauren Moore are continuing to rehab well from their respective injuries and there is a very positive vibe in the group.
Our media team are also looking at ways to give our Members and Fans more digital access to the team during the national effort to protect the most vulnerable in our society from Covid-19.
Stay tuned to our social channels for more.
A message from our General Manager
“Firstly, we would like to thank our Members for their on-going support at this difficult time for everyone around the country.
“I can assure you that our Members are foremost in every conversation we’re having at this time – especially when it comes the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season.
“We are in uncharted territory here as the nation, and indeed the world, grapples with this virus, but as well as taking measures to stem its spread, we are also looking to the future when our Swifts can get back on court in front of their fans.
“Part of the reason we’ve decided to distribute membership packs in the coming weeks was to remind people that this crisis will end and the Swifts will be there when it does.
“Together We Can.”
- Nikki Horton, Executive General Manager – NSW Swifts
