The NSW Swifts are delighted to announce that QBE Swifts Academy attacker Sophia Martinussen has been elevated to Training Partner status within the senior squad.
A gold medallist with NSW 19U at the 2026 National Netball Championships, Martinussen is regarded as one of the leading shooters in the Australian netball pathway.
After beginning her pathway journey with Netball ACT, the 19-year-old moved to Sydney in 2025 to join the Swifts Academy.
Since then she has been a standout performer at national level with both the NSW 19U team and the QBE Swifts Academy in the Super Netball Reserves competition.
Martinussen has long aspired to become a Super Netball player, and this promotion brings her one step closer to that goal.
“Making the move to Sydney to join the QBE Swifts Academy was a big step for me, but I’ve loved the opportunities it’s given me,” Martinussen said.
“Being a Training Partner also allows me to test myself against some of the best players in the world, and having had a taste of it, I’m really keen for more.
“I love the environment in the QBE Swifts Academy squad under Lenore Blades this year. My time with the NSW 19U team at Nationals was also a very special experience.
“The Swifts are one of the most respected and successful teams in NSW sport, and I really want to continue to show what I can do.”
