Champion NSW Swifts defenders Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner are heading to Tamworth to support Netball NSW’s Beyond The Court initiative.
The double Premiership champions, who are also proud Australian Diamonds, will meet with young leaders, volunteers, and fans over two days of visits, workshops, and community events next Friday & Saturday 28-29 November.
After visiting a number of schools in the local area, the dynamic defensive duo will be making the following public appearances:
- SIGNING SESSION: 4pm, Fri 28 Nov - Tamworth Sports Dome (Free for all)
- NETBALL YOUTH SUMMIT: 6pm, Fri 28 Nov - Tamworth Sports Dome (Register)
- BEYOND THE COURT: 9am, Sat 29 Nov – West Tamworth Leagues Club (Register)
Trish Crews, Executive General Manager of Community at Netball NSW, said the organisation was excited to be heading to the northeast.
“Like we have done in places like Newcastle and Goulburn recently, these visits are about connection and listening to our communities to share knowledge and empower the people who make netball happen,” she said.
“It is also wonderful to be able to bring Swifts Centurions like Sarah and Maddy with us.
“Both have played huge roles in delivering success to the Swifts and also to the Diamonds. They are brilliant role models for all of our netball community and I am really looking forward to seeing them connect with the regional NSW netball family.”
Tamworth Region Mayor Russell Webb said it was special to welcome the Swifts to the area.
“To have netball players of this calibre through the NSW Swifts visit our region is tremendous opportunity for our community," he said.
"Not only does it shine a spotlight on Tamworth as a vibrant sporting hub, but it also inspires our local athletes, families, and young people to dream big and reach for their goals on the court.
"We’re proud to welcome these talented athletes and look forward to the positive impact they’ll bring to our region.”
The Beyond the Court regional roadshow forms part of Netball NSW’s commitment to ensuring every community across the state has direct access to the sport’s leaders, athletes, and development programs — inspiring the next generation of netballers both on and off the court.
