QBE Swifts Academy athlete Jess Conlan will continue her journey with the NSW Swifts in 2027, recommitting as a Training Partner as she closes in on her return to court following an ACL injury.
A former Australian 21U squad member and Academy vice-captain, Conlan has been part of the Swifts environment for the past three seasons after progressing through the Netball NSW pathway from her hometown of Griffith.
Despite being unable to take the court this season, Conlan has remained a valued member of the squad, continuing to contribute while putting in the work behind the scenes.
Conlan said she was excited to continue training alongside the Swifts’ 2027 squad as she takes the next step in her comeback.
“I’m super grateful for the opportunity to continue with the Swifts in 2027,” she said.
“Not being able to play this year has definitely been challenging, but I’m really proud of the work I’ve put into my rehab and how far I’ve come.
“I’ve had so much support from the Club, the coaches and the girls throughout the year and being able to stay connected to the team has meant a lot to me.
“I’ve always dreamed of wearing a Swifts dress in a Super Netball game, so to have the opportunity to continue working towards that in 2027 is not something I take for granted.
“I know there’s still work to do, but I’m ready to keep pushing myself and put myself in the best position to take an opportunity if it comes.”
Swifts Head Coach Dylan Nexhip said Conlan’s resilience and leadership throughout her recovery had been a testament to her character.
“Jess has shown enormous resilience and mental toughness throughout her rehab,” Nexhip said.
“She’s attacked every part of the process and continued to show up for herself and the team, which says a lot about the person and athlete she is.
“Jess is also a natural leader within our program. Even though she hasn’t been able to take the court this year, she has continued to contribute to the environment and invest in the development of those around her.
“She’s a talented midcourter with a great understanding of the game, and we’re really excited to have her continuing with us in 2027.
“She’s put in the work and we can’t wait to see her back out there when the time comes.”
