A Saturday night showdown with the Melbourne Mavericks will herald the start of the NSW Swifts’ 2025 home campaign with the next season of Suncorp Super Netball poised to be the biggest and best yet.
After breaking attendance and membership records last year, the team is ready to rebound and re-enter the title race with the wider Swifts Family set to play a pivotal role in the race for Premiership No.8.
The Swifts’ fixture for 2025 was unveiled this evening and it’s a winner for netty fans in NSW with a balanced mix of Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon games to whet their appetites.
While Briony Akle’s team will start the season on the road in Perth against the West Coast Fever, the Round 2 clash with the Mavs will be Swifts Members and Fans’ first chance to see their team in action.
They welcome the Victorians to Ken Rosewall Arena on Saturday 12 April (7pm AEST) before hosting the Queensland Firebirds in their next home game in Round 4 on Sunday 4 May (4pm AEST).
The Firebirds clash is the first of back-to-back Sunday games, with the Swifts hosting the Melbourne Vixens one week later in Round 5 (Sunday 11 May, 4pm AEST) before they head on the road for two weeks.
Upon returning to Sydney, the Swifts will play back-to-back Saturday night games when they welcome the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Round 8 (Saturday 31 May, 7pm AEST) and then the West Coast Fever in Round 9 (Saturday 7 June, 7pm AEST) which coincides with the netball community’s Senior State Titles.
After selling out the NSW Derbies in 2023 and 2024, the Swifts will be steeled and raring to face the Giants in Round 11 (Sunday 22 June, 2pm AEST) before Junior State Titles fans will have the opportunity to see their heroes in Round 13 when the Swifts take on the Sunshine Coast Lightning (Saturday 5 July, 5pm AEST).
As per previous seasons, the top four teams at the end of 14 regular-season rounds will contest a three-week Finals Series, which starts from Saturday 19 July.
Swifts Executive General Manager Jeremy Butler is excited by the draw and the opportunities it presents for netball fans.
“Both the Swifts and Super Netball as a whole broke numerous records last year and attending a Swifts game has become a must-see event.
“We pride ourselves on our amazing game day experience, and whether we play on a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon, our Members and Fans are guaranteed a great day out at Ken Rosewall Arena.
“Briony and her team are among the very best in Australian sport and with international stars Paige Hadley, Helen Housby, and Sarah Klau hitting the court – along with our fantastic new signing Grace Nweke - it’s an exciting time to be a Swifts fan.”
Butler also highlighted how this draw gave the opportunity for both regional and metro fans to attend Swifts games.
“This draw is a great mix for everyone who loves our game,” he added. “Last year we received some feedback that Sunday games made it more difficult for regional fans to make the trip to Sydney and then get back home and prepared for the week ahead.
“In 2025 we have a better balance of Saturday and Sunday games and that’s a brilliant result.
“It’s going to great fun for sport lovers and families at our games in 2025, so I’d urge fans to snap up one of our excellent value Membership packages and secure your spot now!”
