Suncorp Super Netball has had its biggest start to the season yet, breaking viewership and attendance records.
Significant audience increases have been recorded on Kayo Sports, Foxtel Go and Foxtel Now across Rounds 1 and 2, marking the highest streamed start to the season since the landmark broadcast partnership with the Foxtel Group began in 2022.
Netball’s partnership with the Foxtel Group was forged to ensure elite netball is highly accessible to fans throughout Australia with two matches live and free on Kayo Freebies every round, including all finals.
While unprecedented numbers tuned in to watch on Foxtel Go, Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports, 80,710 fans have attended Suncorp Super Netball matches across the opening four rounds – the highest start to a season since the league’s inception in 2017.
A record 20,802 fans attended Round 1 to set a new milestone, while the average attendance for the first four rounds was over 20,000 – 4,200 more than the average for the first four rounds in a previous season.
International netball fans have also showed their support for Suncorp Super Netball, with Netball Pass subscribers already up by 65 per cent compared to the full 2023 season.
Netball Australia interim CEO Stacey West thanked netball fans for their support.
“Netball fans have tuned in and turned up in unprecedented numbers to support their teams,” West said.
“It has been a hugely successful start to the Suncorp Super Netball season, a true testament to the commitment and athleticism of the incredible athletes who make up the competition.
“On behalf of Netball Australia, we thank our fans, broadcast partner Foxtel Group, venues and clubs for staging four incredible rounds of Suncorp Super Netball.”
