NSW Swifts centurion Paige Hadley has committed her long-term future to the Club by re-signing until the end of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The double World Cup winner and Commonwealth Gold medalist – who has played five Grand Finals for the Swifts, winning Premierships in 2019 and 2021 – has been co-captain of the Foundation Club since 2020.
The Penrith native made her debut in 2012 and has played 157 games for the seven-time Premiers so far, including Grand Final wins over the Sunshine Coast Lightning (2019) and the Giants (2021), as well as the extra-time loss to the Thunderbirds in the 2023 decider.
She recently played her 50th Test Match for the Australian Diamonds, and was made Vice-Captain of the national side having previously led her country to a Test Series win over England in late 2022.
Hadley said she never contemplated signing with another Club, despite having achieved so much with the Swifts already.
“The Swifts are my home, the team I grew up supporting and I love everyone involved on court, off court and in the stands so I am stoked to sign for the next three years,” she said.
“I have made so many great memories at the Club, but there so many more that I want to create.
“Winning titles in 2019 and 2021 has only made me hungrier to win more. Because we came so close to another title last season, I am more driven than ever to win again.
“Sporting careers are short and I want to make the most of mine. I think at the Swifts we have a proven track record and legacy that drives us to constantly reach new heights, and I always want to be a part of that.
“I cannot wait to get to work with Briony (Akle, head coach) and the rest of the crew as we build up for 2024 and hopefully return the Swifts to the mountain top of Aussie netball.”
Akle said securing the services of Hadley was key to the Swifts’ plan for the coming seasons.
“In the modern era of the Swifts, Paige has proven herself to be one of the greatest to ever wear the dress,” she said.
“What I love most about Paige is her hunger and desire to constantly get better and drive standards. Despite winning multiple Premierships, World Cups and a Comm Games gold, she never rests on her laurels.
“Paige is a student of the game and loves the Club deeply. You can’t teach passion and talent doesn’t go far without hard work. Thankfully Paige is deeply passionate, talented and exceptionally hard working.
“She is the epitome of the modern elite netballer and the ultimate Swift and I am delighted that we have her in our side for another three years.”
The Swifts will make further announcements regarding 2024 player signings in due course.
