Former NSW and Australia underage representative defender Jemma Donoghue has joined the NSW Swifts as a Training Partner (TP) for the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Already a capped Super Netball player having taken the court for the Giants in 2022, the Northern Suburbs athlete spent two years as a TP with the Swifts’ cross-town rivals.
Most recently the 22-year-old plied her trade in the English Super League where she played for the Leeds Rhinos.
Regarded as one of the best rising defensive talents in the country, Donoghue said she was really looking forward to testing herself in a new environment.
“I have loved the vibe around the Swifts since I arrived at the Club,” she said.
“Being a NSW junior I obviously know a lot of the players already and have played with and against many of them in the past, but it’s pretty cool to see the environment that Briony and the senior players have implemented.
“The highest of standards are expected each day, and the onus is on the players to drive them.
“Since coming back from the UK decided I wanted to take a fresh approach and start over and the Swifts were happy to chat when I reached out.
“So far, it’s gone really well and I’m keen to give my all to ensure the team is fully supported and put myself in the best position to step-up should I be called upon.”
