The Suncorp Super Netball Round 2 Double Header set a new record for a National League* regular round game on Sunday.
Qudos Bank Arena welcomed 13,462 fans through the doors with the Swifts bringing the house down with a last-minute win over the Melbourne Mavericks.
Earlier in the day, the Giants went down fighting against the Melbourne Vixens.
On the back of a record-breaking 2025 when Super Netball firmly established itself as the nation’s leading female sports league with 400,000 fans attending, Swifts Executive General Manager Jeremy Butler said it was a demonstration of the game’s strength.
“With the season starting early to accommodate the Commonwealth Games, it was a brilliant result to set a new crowd milestone in Round 2,” she said.
“The previous record was another Swifts game, the 2016 clash with the Queensland Firebirds which brought in 13,313 fans, and we are very proud to be part of this new milestone, especially in our 30th year.
“Netball NSW, the Swifts and Giants worked very closely to make this a major event, and the proof was in the stands.
“It demonstrated that sports fans appreciate world-class entertainment and what a showpiece we had in our game against the Mavericks.
“Looking ahead to our Ken Rosewall Arena games, we cannot wait to build on last year’s record attendances and welcome even more people to Suncorp Super Netball.”
