Griffith midcourter Jess Conlan has secured herself a Training Partner (TP) spot with the NSW Swifts for the 2024 Suncorp Super Netball season.
The 21-year-old was a stand out for the QBE Swifts Academy at the 2023 Australian Netball Championships and has been elevated to the senior ranks in 2024.
A versatile midcourter, Conlan is one of a number of regional athletes that have come through the QBE Swifts Academy program who are now part of the first team setup.
In 2023 she was selected to take part in an Australian 21U Camp in Canberra alongside fellow TP Audrey Little and Swifts attacker Sophie Fawns, while she has also earned selection for the NSW 17U and 19U Teams in recent years.
Conlan has loved the opportunity to test herself in the senior setup: “I was really happy with how 2023 went for me and to get this chance is something I don’t take for granted and I’m loving it so far.
“When you hit the training court alongside the likes of Maddy Proud and Allie Smith you notice a massive lift in intensity, and we’ve got more players like Paige Hadley and Helen Housby returning so I’m really excited.
“Since being part of the QBE Swifts Academy in recent years, and playing for the NSW State Teams, I’ve gotten a real feel for the Swifts, their legacy and how they always aim to be leaders in Aussie netball.
“Often, it’s the little things that players like Maddy or Paige do that make huge differences, and getting to be a part of that environment daily and seeing it up close is invaluable.”
