After a standout Super Netball Reserves campaign, QBE Swifts Academy vice-captain Jess Conlan has recommitted to the NSW Swifts as a Training Partner for 2026.
One of the finest up-and-coming midcourters in the game, the former Australian 21U representative has been part of the senior Swifts environment for the past two seasons.
A native of Griffith, and a product of the Netball NSW pathway, Conlan played a huge role in the Swifts Academy’s third-place finish in the Reserves competition which underpins Suncorp Super Netball.
The 22-year-old has big ambitions and hopes to take them a step closer to reality in 2026.
“I really enjoy the competitive environment in the Swifts and how everyone is pushing each other to take their game to the next level,” she said.
“I also love how Briony (Akle, Swifts head coach) engages with the whole group. Everyone has a big role to play to keep the Swifts in the running year after year and I am ready to do my part again.
“My dream is to wear a Swifts dress in a Super Netball game, and I know that pushing myself in training and match play every week gives me the best chance of achieving that.
“As we have seen at the Swifts down the seasons, opportunities can arise at any time, and I want to give myself the best opportunity to take advantage of them if that happens.”
Akle said Conlan’s presence and attitude in the senior setup was vital for her team.
“Jess is one of the most professional and committed athletes I have the pleasure of working with,” she said.
“Her skill is matched with a brilliant reading of the game and I cannot wait to see how she continues to develop her game with us.
“Under the tutelage of proven champions like Maddy Proud, Gina Crampton and Tayla Fraser she can add more to her armoury.
“Like Jess alluded to, opportunities can often arise in Super Netball for a variety of reasons, and I am delighted that she has the open ambition to say she wants to be first in line if one comes along.”
