After two years away, double NSW Swifts Premiership champion Tayla Fraser is returning to the Club for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
A versatile midcourter, who has played three Grand Finals for the Swifts and won Premierships in 2019 and 2021, Fraser’s spent the last two years plying her trade for the Melbourne Mavericks.
The 26-year-old, who hails from Baulkham Hills and came through the Netball NSW Pathway before debuting for the Swifts in 2019, said she was really excited to return to the Club she’s loved since childhood.
“I grew up supporting the Swifts and getting to wear the Dress and win titles in it was the stuff of dreams. I cannot wait to try and do that again next year.
“I loved my time in Melbourne and will always be grateful to the Mavericks for the opportunity to be part of a new Club. It was a fantastic life experience but the time is right for me to head home.
“When I left the Swifts at the end of 2023, I always felt like I would want to come back some day and now feels right. Many of the players I shared great days with are still there and with some really exciting new faces I cannot wait to see what 2026 brings.
“Those who know me are also aware that I am a self-confessed Swifts nerd and passionate about the history and legacy of the Club. With the Swifts celebrating 30 years in 2026 I want to give it my all to try and ensure it’s a really special one for everyone on court and in the stands.”
Swifts Head Coach Briony Akle said she was delighted to welcome Fraser back.
“When Tay made the decision to explore something new a few years ago she went with our full support and blessing, but we also told her that it didn’t need to be the end of her Swifts journey.
“At a really young age, Tay played a huge role in ending the Swifts’ Premiership drought in 2019 and backing it up again in 2021, as well as our Grand Final run in 2023. She knows how to play in big games and returns to us with even more experience and leadership knowledge under her belt.
“When we played the Mavericks in Melbourne this year Tay demonstrated that she can really command a midcourt and her commitment to excellence remains as strong as ever.
“Over the course of Swifts history we’ve seen many great players leave and return later in their careers to become legends of the Club. I know Tayla has the capability and the work ethic to achieve that. I cannot wait to welcome her back later this year.”
