The NSW Swifts are delighted to announce that champion Assistant Coach Bec Bulley has put pen to paper with the club for another two years.
A World Cup-winning Australian Diamond in 2015, Bulley was a vital part of Head Coach Briony Akle’s team as the Swifts secured a seventh Premiership in 2021.
Alongside Akle, Bulley juggled her duties a mother and coach in the multi-state Suncorp Super Netball hub which ended with the Swifts defeating cross-town rivals the Giants in the first-ever all-NSW National League Grand Final.
Bulley is a two-time Premiership winner with the Swifts. Her first title came as a player in 2008 before she added another as a coach this year. She also claimed on-court Premierships with the Queensland Firebirds and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, while she played the 2017 Grand Final with the Giants.
Akle said Bulley’s presence in the Swifts setup added an extra aura to the team environment.
“When you look at what Bec has achieved in national and international netball there are very few who can match her.
“She has transitioned wonderfully from a player to a coach and to have someone of her calibre in the support staff is inspirational for our playing group.
“Bec’s netball IQ is unrivalled. I was so impressed by how she managed the intense environment that the 2021 season presented us with. She also had young children with her too, but the way she took it all in her stride showed the strength of character she has.”
Bulley said returning to the Swifts had been a fantastic experience so far.
“I have loved every moment since getting the opportunity to return to the club that really put me on the netball map in the early stages of my career,” she said.
“Briony, the playing group, the support team and the club staff have all made my transition back very easy and I am so proud of what we were able to achieve this year.
“The Swifts are the legacy team of the Super Netball competition and there is a hunger in this group for much more success. The hard work for 2022 has already begun and I’m excited to see what we can do.”
