Promising shooter Nicola Barge will continue her journey with the Swifts, signing on as the first training partner for 2027.
Barge was elevated to 11th Player for the Swifts’ 2026 campaign, earning her Super Netball debut in Round 4 against the Fever, becoming NSW Swift 115.
The rising star went on to make six appearances throughout the season, finishing with 30 goals, including 14 super shots.
A former National Netball Championships MVP and representative of both NSW and Australia at underage level, Barge has been part of the Swifts’ environment since 2025 and has quickly established herself as a much-loved member of the playing group.
Barge said she loved wearing the Red dress in 2026 and is hungry to keep building and chase more opportunities for court time at the highest level.
“I absolutely love this Club and I’m so grateful for the opportunities I had to play last year,” Barge said.
“Being elevated to 11th Player and then getting the chance to make my Super Netball debut was something I’ll always be grateful for.
“It gave me a taste of what it takes to compete at the highest level and made me even more determined to keep working towards it.
“I’m going to keep pushing myself even harder in 2027 to show that I’m capable of playing at this level and taking those opportunities when they come.
“I love being part of this group and the environment we have at the Swifts. I want to keep learning from the girls and coaches, keep improving and hopefully continue to contribute both on and off the court.”
Swifts Head Coach Dylan Nexhip said Barge’s potential, attitude and impact on the group made her an important part of the Club’s future.
“Nicola has so much potential and we’ve already seen glimpses of what she’s capable of at Super Netball level,” Nexhip said.
“She has a fearless approach to her game, she doesn’t shy away from big moments and has shown she’s capable at the highest level.
“She has plenty of growth ahead of her, and that’s what makes her so exciting.
“We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Nicola and seeing her embrace opportunities that come her way.”
