The NSW Swifts will be without Head Coach Briony Akle and attacker Sam Wallace for this weekend’s Suncorp Team Girls Cup tournament in Melbourne.
Akle was unable to travel with the team yesterday after being identified as a close contact of a person who tested positive for COVID-19. She is currently isolating in Sydney and will return to team duties next week.
In Akle’s absence Assistant Coach Bec Bulley will oversee the Premiers for the duration of the pre-season tournament.
Wallace, who has travelled to Melbourne, is currently rehabbing a knee injury and working her way back to full fitness. She remains on track to be ready for the Swifts’ Round 1 clash with the Giants on March 26.
Training Partner and QBE Swifts Acadmey athlete Laura Towell (Sutherland Shire Netball Association) has been called into the squad for this weekend.
The Swifts’ Team Girls Cup campaign kicks off on Friday when they play the Sunshine Coast Lightning at Melbourne’s Parkville Stadium (4pm AET).
All Team Girls Cup games will be broadcast live and free on Kayo Freebies, while viewers can also tune in via Fox Sports.
