Suncorp Super Netball returns to Sydney with a bang next year as local rivals the NSW Swifts and Giants team up to host a blockbuster Round 2 Double Header at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday 22 March.
The 2026 season starts earlier due to the Commonwealth Games taking place in Glasgow in late July and early August.
With the Swifts and Giants on the road in Round 1, Australia’s biggest indoor venue will welcome Netball NSW’s two professional sides one week later for an afternoon extravaganza of world-class sporting entertainment, with members and fans of both Clubs getting access to two SSN games on the day.
The Giants host the Vixens at 3pm before the Swifts open their 2026 home campaign against the Mavericks at 5pm on the same court.
The Double Header is the Swifts’ only regular-season game at Qudos Bank Arena with Briony Akle’s team playing the remaining six fixtures at their usual home of Ken Rosewall Arena.
In a win for families looking to attend games in 2026 - and in addition to the Double Header - the Swifts’ home fixture consists of four Saturday games at 5pm, while there also two Sunday games taking place at 2pm.
Swifts Executive General Manger Jeremy Butler said the Club was excited for its 30th Anniversary campaign, and 10th of the SSN era.
“Last year Super Netball continued to break all kinds of records with almost 400,000 fans attending games and this Double Header with the Giants is a fitting way to welcome the game back to Sydney.
“There is a World Cup looming in 2027 and big netball events such as these should be commonplace on the sporting calendar.
“It is the two Sydney Clubs going head-to-head with the two Melbourne Clubs and that should also excite our game’s diehards. We plan on making this a massive celebration of our game and league.”
Butler added that families would really benefit from the timeslots of the Swifts’ other home fixtures in 2026.
“This is a brilliant fixture for sports fans looking to take in the No.1 female sports league in Australia,” he said.
“With a mix of early Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon timeslots families are able to have a brilliant time at the netball and then get home at a reasonable hour.
“Even for our fans who don’t have to rush home to get the kids sorted this is a fantastic draw. Our Saturday evening games are done by 7pm which still leaves our fans plenty of time to head to dinner or go to a bar to chat about the game.
“Last year we had record Membership and we are hopeful to go above and beyond that again next season. As ever Membership is the only way guarantee fans the best seats in the house.
“We encourage everyone to keep an eye out for more details regarding 2026 Membership which will be released in the coming weeks.”
