This Sunday the NSW Swifts will host their 2022 Suncorp Super Netball First Nations Rounds when they welcome the West Coast Fever to Ken Rosewall Arena.
While the Premiers will be seeking a win to keep their Finals hopes on track, the Round will double as one of the most important on the Club's calendar with the Swifts celebrating the huge contribution of First Nations people to the game of netball.
The Minhi's Netball Club from the Randwick Netball Association are an organisation that merit huge celebration, and on Sunday they will take the court to participate in the curtain raiser to the heavyweight clash between the Swifts and Fever.
Built around the mantra PASSION, PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE, Wiradjuri sisters Sallie-Ann and Emilie Barker established the Minhi's in early 2019 in honour of their late father Thomas Albert Hill.
To commemorate his honour the word 'Minhi's' derives from the Wiradjuri language word meaning 'Sisters'.
The club is for everyone who wants to get involved in a sport that can keep them fit, improve skills and find a welcoming space to enjoy the game.
The Minhi's' mission is also to promote a safe environment that supports all players to reach their potential and provide a positive netball experience for all.
"Coming together as one nation, one community we welcome any individual from all nationalities of all ages to come and join our organisation to help make our community a more safer place to play in," the sisters say.
"We offer courses and training for coaches and umpires within our club and workshops for individuals wanting to increase and strengthen their skills.
"We train during weekdays including off season to provide extensive training to all players and maintain a strong bond between individuals so that they feel comfortable within their team and the club.
"We also hold fundraisers for which go towards netball presentations, training equipment and allocated uniforms to players and coaching staff and umpires. We gladly appreciate any new volunteers to be involved with our Committee and welcome new players at the start of every season."
